Histoire
Le rapcore se développe depuis le rap rock, un genre mêlant chants et éléments instrumentaux du hip-hop avec le rockcite-ref-ambrose-1-1[1]cite-ref-mciver-2-1[2]. Les Beastie Boys, auparavant un groupe de punk hardcore, se lancent dans le genre hip-hop. Leur premier album, Licensed to Ill, inspiré par le rockcite-ref-6[6]. Biohazard est considéré comme le groupe le plus important dans le développement du genrecite-ref-7[7]. Le groupe punk originaire de Huntington Beach Hed PE adopte une fusion de styles oscillant entre hip-hop, reggae et punk rock, punk hardcore et heavy metal. Bien qu'ils soit catégorisés dans le genre rapcore genrecite-ref-8[8], ils s'autoproclament « G-punk »cite-ref-scire-9-0[9]cite-ref-owen-10-0[10]. Kottonmouth Kings adoptent un style qu'ils qualifient de « punk rock hip-hop psychédéliquecite-ref-ankeny-11-0[11]. »
Les premiers groupes permettant au genre de se populariser auprès du grand public incluent Dog Eat Dog, 311cite-ref-12[12], Bloodhound Gangcite-ref-ambrose-1-2[1], Limp Bizkitcite-ref-erlewine-13-0[13], et Suicidal Tendenciescite-ref-14[14], ou encore Zebrahead à leurs débuts. Bien que la popularité de ces styles musicaux soit considérée comme déclinante, certains croient au regain de popularité du rapcore, grâce à de jeunes fans de musique découvrant le genrecite-ref-wedge-15-0[15].
